Dear reader,
I think my time on Twitter is drawing to a close.
So, what’s next?
If you’ve followed me for a while you know I have a love-hate relationship with social media, especially Twitter.
If you are new here, to give you some context - I’ve experienced a strange lack of growth and visibility on the platform which has seen me unable to surpass 12.9k followers in over a year and a half (before that I was stuck at 12.7k for a year) and seen engagement on my posts dwindle.
I remember one post - which I considered to be very informative for my audience - had only been seen by 400 people in over 24 hours and had no interactions!
Originally I thought I’d been shadowbanned but why would Twitter do that to an account trying to help people with addiction recovery? Then I looked into any possible algorithm changes and I found something interesting. It appears that you need to keep constantly feeding the algorithm and almost make Twitter your full-time job in order to reach more people - something I don’t want to do.
Recently I’ve been using a scheduling app to do the job and have actually found some success doing that. But I keep asking myself the question. Why?
Why should I keep worrying about the big blue bird app?
Why should I keep feeding an algorithm that appears to not favour my content?
Why don’t I just cut out the middle man and ‘tweet’ to people that are actually able to see and want to read what I’ve written?
Why don’t I just take the content I would have normally written on Twitter and move it to Telegram?
Well, that’s what I’ve decided to do.
I’ve started up a new Telegram channel specifically for ‘tweets’ and will start using that more prominently as I begin to faze out my Twitter account.
Yes, this will probably end up damaging my ‘business’ but will ultimately be more beneficial for me personally.
This new telegram channel will just be for ‘tweets’ and some longer form entries - kind of an extension to the free content I publish here.
I will not spam this channel. I will put out a set number of ‘tweets’ per day, however, comments will be switched off for now.
This is because I’ve launched an exclusive Telegram channel for Premium subscribers of this newsletter. It’s a private community where free-flowing discussions about the chaos of addiction and the clarity of recovery (among other things) are encouraged and positive support & advice is expected.
When you sign up to become a premium member of this newsletter you will not only have access to exclusive content including audio messages, bonus content and three emails a week, you will now also have access to this private community where you will be able to interact with me and fellow premium subscribers.
It’s time to build a Tribe.

Roscoe
